Text description provided by the architects

Vincent Leroy imagines a kaleidoscopic capsule in the Arizona desert. Both in situ & immersive, the installation, clad with nearly 600 convex mirrors, offers different reading levels. From the outside, the mirror scales reflect a fragmented vision of the surrounding landscape. Inside, the passers-by enter an endless kaleidoscope. Convex mirrors create a fractal pattern where visitors and landscape seem to repeat themselves endlessly at different scales.

Lover of wide open spaces, it is in the desert landscapes of Arizona that the French artist Vincent Leroy imagined his latest projectInfinite Capsule.

Clad with nearly 600 convex mirrors, the optical installation offers different reading levels. From the outside, it appears like a mirage, an enigmatic presence lost in the middle of the desert. A giant cocoon in the scales of which the landscape is reflected, fragmented and diffracted.

A space both closed and infinite.

Kaleidoscopic landscape.

The exterior dialogues with the interior.

The interior of the artworks forms a space that is both closed and infinite. The visitor enters an endless kaleidoscope and finds himself face to face with his image distorted and multiplied by the convex surfaces that surround him. The mirrors overlay with the surrounding desert and reflect each other, creating a fractal pattern where visitors and landscape seem to repeat themselves endlessly at different scales. A game of scales that somehow brings the immensity of the desert to a more human dimension. Indeed, for the artist, the work dialogues as much with the landscape as with our intimacy and our interaction with our own image.
