For more than 40 years, interiors has been an important part of our firm’s practice, providing high-quality design and project management services for our varied and prestigious clients.

A thriving standalone business with projects independent and distinct from our architectural practice has been established with 8 regional interiors studios in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Seattle, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh, Singapore and Hong Kong. Additionally, our interiors practice supports projects that are integrated with large, complex architectural projects.

@(Senior)Interior Designer
Shanghai, China

We are seeking a talented design-oriented (Senior) Interior Designer in our Shanghai Studio. Reporting to Design Director and Project Director, the (Senior) Interior Designer is responsible to plan and design interior spaces and concepts.

Specific Position Responsibilities
• Formulate preliminary design concepts that are functional, fiscally appropriate and aesthetically pleasing.
• Work closely with the Design team positively with passion to formulate preliminary space plans and produce three-dimensional-creative and unique design concepts that are culturally attractive, functional, within budget and aesthetically pleasing.
• Willing to listen and understand client’s needs and work towards the goal to accomplish client’s vision with international level cutting edge design solution.
• Naturally sensitive and have working knowledge of materials and products that will be used to create and furnish the space and how texture, color, lighting and other factors combine and interact to make a space functional working and aesthetically amazing.
• Communicate with clients, consultants and contractors as required and directed.
• Having knowledge and able to prepare or checking/reviewing, space planning, materials, finishes, furniture, furnishings, fixtures, equipment and millwork; create sample boards; knowledgeable in the areas of building construction, building materials, specifications, codes, life safety issues, technical drawing and business practices.
• Collaborate with Project Manager with consultants who offer professional services in the technical areas of mechanical, electrical and structural design as well as any specialty consultants as required.
• Understanding of project fee and client budget.
• Develop documents, drawings and diagrams which outline client needs to appropriately portray the design concept and to meet functional, maintenance, performance, environmental and safety requirements under the direction of supervising designer
• Understand the process of selection, specification and documentation of furniture, furnishings, equipment and millwork, including layout drawings and detailed product description; contract administration to facilitate pricing, procurement and installation under the supervision of the senior interior designer.
• Proactively seek out resources and information from senior staff
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
• Above 6+ years (Interior Designer) or 10+ years (Senior Interior Designer) of relevant industry experience as a (Senior) interior designer; exposures to workplace projects in China is a must, healthcare and hospitality projects is a plus.
• Good understanding of the design process and ability to comprehend the client’s needs and goals
• Well-developed time management and organizational skills required to undertake multiple projects or facets of various projects
• Comfortable meeting and dealing with architects, contractors, other consultants, other interior designers, material suppliers and specifiers
• Software/Technology: AutoCAD, 3D Software knowledge preferred (Sketchup, Rhino and Revit is essential), Microsoft Office and Excel, Presentation Software (Image Ready, Power Point, Indesign and Photoshop)
• Strong team player with “Green Design” sense.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese or English is preferred

The (Senior) Project Manager position will be responsible for individual clients and day to day project management. The incumbent will lead projects from beginning to end – and will be responsible for delivering project scope and coordinating the necessary project support. The (Senior) Project Manager will work collaboratively with Project Director in the completion of proposals, projects and project reporting. Undertake full project forecasting and financial management and report to Project Director.
Ideally this candidate should be a Senior level candidate who can lead and monitor project team and keep high level of communication with clients independently.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Oversees multiple interior design projects through management of day to day activities and ensure the completion of projects within budget, on schedule and meeting all program objectives.
• Work together with Project Director and Design Team to ensure continued focus on delivering design excellence in all project work.
• Assists in preparing project presentations and Collaborates with Project Director to oversee RFPs in a timely and competitive method; May participate and/or lead client presentations.
• effective communicates with consultants, contractors, sub-consultants and other disciplines.
• Understands the client’s expectations; Consistently provide complete and timely communication of project information to and from clients and project team.
• Fosters a culture of external and internal client service.

Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or equivalent is education or experience required.
• 10+ years of professional relevant experience in ID project management with exposures to workplace projects is a must, commercial. healthcare, hospitality projects experienced is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects of a complex scope.
• Strong organization, collaboration and communication skills to lead clients and the design team throughout planning processes.

(Senior) Project Manager position will be responsible for individual clients and day to day project management. It would be beneficial to have experience in projects collaborating with other disciplines or offices in other Asia locations especially Southern China, as we are a global firm with projects being delivered in partnership with other teams.

• Contribute to business development efforts through your contacts with clients.
• Oversees multiple interior design projects through management of day to day activities and ensure the completion of projects within budget, on schedule and meeting all program objectives.
• Serve as primary resource to clients on all projects related issues and keep effectively communicates with consultants, contractors, sub-consultants and other disciplines.

Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture or equivalent education and experience required.
• 10+ years of professional relevant experience in working on large scale interior design and architectural design projects, onsite experience is preferred.
• Workplace, hospitality project experiences are deems an advantage.
• Solid project experiences throughout the full services of interior design phases, from concept, schematic, DD, working drawing, Tender, to CA.
• Mainly in Interior Design project experience but not limited to Architecture project experience is preferred.

@ Senior Client Development Manager
Shanghai, China

The Client Development Manager will work with Studio Director and Managing Principal to develop and execute the overall marketing and business development strategy. She/He should demonstrate strong capabilities to develop and build up business with clients.

Responsibilities:
• Bring in leads resulting in successful contracts with yearly target given by Managing Principal.
• Follow up on targeted local pursuits as directed by the China Principals
• Develop, build and maintain client relationships.
• Coordinate the production of appropriate marketing materials for these potential clients (brochures, PowerPoint presentations, proposals, etc.) to be prepared by the B+H marketing team.
• Report to Managing Principal, Greater China
• Keep written records of all client contacts and progress of leads in B+H system.
• Focus is China and Great Bay Area.
• Coordinate with Marketing personnel and/or Principals in B+H global offices when required for leads outside greater China
• Use Go-No-Go and Project initiation forms in coordination with supervising Principal for any leads.
• Coordinate signing of contracts by having the contract reviewed by B+H Legal and Director/Principal in Charge of Project. Assist with drafting of contracts particularly discussion of scope of work and payment terms with clients.
• Follow up on client payment schedule and general contract administration.

Position Requirements:
• Smart and savvy with client relations
• Actively seek out fresh opportunities, eyes and ears on the ground and first mover on industry news
• Extensive experience leading and driving proposals in a professional services firm, ideally in the architecture, design or engineering industry
• Highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to navigate and negotiate different personalities and competing priorities
• Minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience
• Conscientious and flexible, with a strong work ethic and team-player attitude
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, influence and be decisive
• Ability to handle stressful situations under demanding conditions in a time-sensitive environment
• Strong relationships with planning and landscape and architecture clients.
• Basic knowledge of building and construction industry preferred.
• Prior experience in architectural LDIs, building contractor or property developer related market would be an advantage but not necessary
• Be a cost effective, highly functional and efficient negotiator.
• Willing and able to work overtime and travel within China.
• Proficient in both spoken and written English.
